The 56th STAQ Queensland Science Contest seeks to promote excellence in student scientific endeavours. It provides an opportunity for the school science community in Queensland to showcase the creative and innovative work that students are doing. It also provides a pathway to national recognition for students who conducted excellent experimental investigations via the BHP Billiton Science Awards.

Independent science project work builds student skills in:

  • creativity
  • problem-solving
  • communication
  • scientific literacy.

Entries Close: Wednesday 23rd September 2009
Entries Submitted: Friday 9th October 2009
Judging: Saturday 10th October 2009
Awards Ceremony: Saturday17th October 2009

Entries can be delivered to the judging venue on the afternoon of Friday 9th October 3pm - 5pm and the morning of Saturday 10th October 8am - 10am. Judging will be held at the The University of Queensland. The venue details are as follows: The Chemistry Podium Level 3, Building 68 Cooper Road (Off College Road) The University of Queensland - St Lucia Campus see: www.uq.edu.au/maps/index.html?menu=1

Entries are available for uplifting at 8am - 10am on Sunday 11th October.

Parking is free and unrestricted on weekends at UQ. Convenient parking is available on Staff House Road and the Conifer Knoll multistory carpark (area 53 on the map).
